nightskylights skirt

I love this skirt it reminds me of a city at night with bright lights everywhere.. Gives me a feeling that if I wear it...I'm going to have a fun and frivolous night! And well, my work girls night was certainly eventful, lets just say my Bambi on ice came out to play after schnapps and vodka lemon shots and just a FEW too many bottle of wine and prosecco! Any more than that I cannot tell you... not because I don't remember, noooo...just because what else happened..is a secret...
It's safe to say I was escorted home (sort of) and the following day at work was a tough one, but filled with giggles of 'some memorable' moments!

I wore it with a grey t-shirt (which I actually wore inside out and back-to-front to suit the look I wanted, versatile hey?!), black tights and my leather jacket. And of course a statement necklace to bring out those bright colours in the skirt.

Take one... Leather Skirt

One of my favourite buys recently has been my leather skirt (H&M £19.99) not only because it is a staple as leather is everywhere this season but also because leather has turned into a little obsession of mine. Not only this, but the skirt also just seems to work with everything - making it very versatile. It won't sit in your wardrobe unworn and you're money becomes well spent. The other thing I love about leather is that it can make an outfit more interesting and chic as it adds in another fabulous texture that steers way from the usual jersey, denim and wool for winter!
So here are two ways I like to wear my leather skirt for the day and for the evening..

To take your leather skirt for a drink down the pub, maybe a day Christmas shopping, or even a causal day at the office by wearing a striped top like this one from New Look. A stripey top is a wardrobe must have, making nearly anything look chic (which probably why the French wear them so much!) Wear black tights or even some dark red/oxblood coloured ones for more colour. Then finish off with an studded ankle boot, a statement necklace and a bag to throw over your shoulder. The studs and spikes on the ankle boots and necklace make it a more modern and on trend look. Easy.

Now it's time to fan that skirt up a little bit - a nice bralet would look great and will emphasise that small waist. I love this white crochet one from Topshop as it takes the edge off the tough biker leather skirt. Or maybe try something plainer, a coloured body and add in a big statement belt such as this vintage rose one. Finish off with a clutch and some heels for the evening. PERFECT.

Baroque for the festive season

The Christmas feeling is starting to kick in and this only means one thing –parties! As the nights get darker the AW trends are literally glistening before our eyes, as this festive season turns towards the gothic baroque trend. For those festive fashionistas, this is the trend that will be heavily featuring in your AW12 party wardrobe, and with so many events on the horizon then we’ve got to ensure we’ve got enough to wear to look fabulous as always.

Think lace, think sequins, think vintage renaissance patterns, think metallics.. add in some pearls, jewels, beading, and embroidery and a touch of velvet or silk for a real sultry decadence feeling.. Imagine Queen Elizabeth I’s wardrobe…just a bit more modern and you can see the idea – but how to pull this off through the high street?

I LOVE this goregous ASOS Embellished Jacket £120.00 and the pattern on the shoulders is perfect for the baroque trend. If you’re going to go for something like this then I would look for something vintage as there loads of things like this around, and then they’ll be one off pieces, however if you’ve not got the time to go trawling through the shops then here you go! Perfect to glam up some simple trousers or top, or with a lace dress for a gothic embellished party look like this one from Zara £69.99.

Can't face the look head to toe then try something a little more toned down - The earrings at the beginning would be a fabulous little addition to an evening outfit (River Island), or perhaps try the belt from Zara for only £19.99 with this velvet pruple and crochet dress which adds a decadant winter feel by Coco's Fortune at Topshop £45. Alternatively take this spectacular bag from ASOS with you, (who would have thought it I know!)  for only £45.00. I bet it will last you a lifetime (or at least a few seasons) and it will certainly add an edge to your outfit. However if you want to add some real excitment to a simple outfit, definitley try this headband from River Island £28.00, swarming with jewels, metallics and amazing detail - over the top? No!

Mix and match some of these fabulous items for an evening of baroque glamour - I love the fringe top from Topshop £36.00, it can add some excitement from the usual boring black top and its perfect to dress up or down. My other favorite is the black sequined skirt from Zara £79.99 - the pattern is amazing and has a huge baroque-esq theme.
Leggings, Topshop £28.00
Lace Peplum Corset, Topshop £36
.00
Cream Embellished Shorts, River Island £45.00
Cream lace top, H&M £19.99

Now go and spend spend spend as those christmas parties are approaching fast... And there's always time to finish off the christmas shopping on the 24th December!
